Confirmation NEWS...Confirmation classes for 8th and 9th grade students
9th grade classes will participate in a Vicariate wide service opportunity on Dec. 6, 2009. This will be from 1 PM until approximately 7 PM. Permission and information sheets were handed out at classes. Additional permission sheets are available by accessing this link: Service Day

Originally all classes were scheduled to last 2 hours. We are going to decrease that to 1-1/2 hours. Classes will now run from 6:30 until 8 PM. HOWEVER, should we have to cancel a class due to the weather we will need to add back that extra half hour in order to complete all the lessons.
If there is a question about weather related closing, please check the local television stations listings. Information will also be on WGN and WBBM radio.

The Davison, Michigan camp for July 18-24th, 2010 is full at this time. You may still fill out an application if you would like to be added to the waitlist. Please clearly date your form as spots will be filled depending on the date of registration – First come, first served.
The Rockford, IL. camp still has openings. For this camp you must be entering 10th grade in the fall of 2010. This is a “Take it to the Next Level” camp. The base camp is at a retreat center. I understand that part of the fun of camp is the traveling, but I choose Rockford for many good reasons. This camp will be held July 4-10, 2010.
The cost for either camp is $360.00. Payment is due in full by May 30 and may be made in installments of $60. At this date, you will need $120 deposit with your registration.
This is an opportunity for you to get away, dive-in, get real and explore with othr teens dealing with the same issues as you.
Kairos 6What does God want from me? What’s next? What now?
Have these question crossed your mind in the past? Do you find yourself wondering about what life really means and if there is more to it than what you’ve experienced so far. If so, this retreat may be just what you are looking for. This retreat is open to all junior and senior high school students. We will leave St. Edna’s on Friday, January 22, 2010 and return on Monday, January 25, in the early evening. The week of Jan 18 is when District 214 has finals and Monday, Jan 25 is a non-attendance day. So, with no school work to bog you down, come and fully enter our Kairos Experience. Teen lead and adult guided, we will spend four days away exploring these issues. We can’t guarantee answers, but just asking the questions will make a difference in the way you live.
Please be aware that the retreat runs over a 3 day weekend. You will NOT need to miss school! We will leave after finals on Friday, January 22nd and return on Monday which is a non-attendance day for Dist. 214.
The cost of the retreat is $165.00 which includes 3 nights overnight lodging, all meals, transportation both ways to the Inspiration Retreat Center in Wisconsin, and materials. Your place will be reserved as soon as your deposit is received. Full payment is due January 15, 2010. If money is a problem, please call the Youth Ministry Office. All information will remain confidential.
Get Involved in the Mass!
We’re currently seeking confirmed high school teens who are interested in taking a more active role in the Mass by helping with the readings (Lector) or by distributing communion (Eucharistic Minister). For starters, we have 2 Youth Groups: The OMT (OPTIONS Ministry Team) for Junior High School students and The PMT (Peer Ministry Team) for Senior High School students.
Both of these groups will function the same— We’ll discuss faith issues,
current topics and participate in service/stewardship events in our Parish. No sign up required, just drop in at the Teen Center.

Davison, Michigan is just outside of Flint, Michigan. It is a community that was dependent on the auto industry. This camp is open to all who will be in 9th grade in Sept. 2010 thru those enter college in 2010. This camp will be July 18-24th, 2010
Rockford, IL. This town, just 2 hours north of us is in really tough times. This camp is for those who have attended 2 camps already are in their Junior or Senior year of high school, or finishing their freshman year of college. This is a “Take it to the Next Level” camp.
