Our Mission Statement
We gather as an active Saint Edna community of Catholic believers.
We worship and share in the liturgies of the Word and Eucharist.
We proclaim God's love and we find God within one another.
We reach out to love, give, care, serve and to teach and renew as disciples of Christ Jesus.
We stand together, in union, listening and learning from each other.

VISION 2010 and beyond…

As we approach the year 2010 and celebrate the 45th Anniversary of our Parish community, we do so with a spirit of gratitude for the good we have known and with the hope that our parish will continue to bear “Good Fruit.”

VISION 2010 began four years ago at our annual Leadership Summit. This is a gathering of members of the Pastoral staff, Pastoral, Finance and Stewardship Council members and commissioners of the four parish Commissions. We gathered and reflected on the strengths and blessings of this faith community and our hopes for the future. The positive topic that created a lot of energy was what it meant to be a fully devoted Catholic. We identified three core beliefs that have guided the major decisions of the past four years.

The first, and probably most challenging priority, involved the development of an intergenerational model of faith formation. This past year was devoted to a deeper understanding of the Seven Sacraments. This coming season is devoted to growing in our understanding of the Bible. As Catholics, we believe that in order to truly have a deep relationship with Christ, we must stay close to His Sacraments and His Word. The Faith Formation department continues to grow and develop with this vision.

The second priority involved our attention to the Worship Experience. The Worship team has continued to work toward well prepared liturgies, music, hospitality and relevant preaching.
Vibrant and heartfelt worship changes hearts and transforms our lives. The work of preparing for worship involves the entire assembly. It is also a work that is never competed. It is still our
hope to increase the number of those who worship weekly.

The third priority involves a greater understanding of what it means to be a good Steward of God’s gifts to us. We believe that stewardship is the way we put our Catholic faith into action. All that we have--our life, our faith, our talents and skills, our time and our financial resources--ultimately come from God. We also believe that we will be held accountable for the manner in which we steward these resources. Much work has been done to increase an awareness of stewardship and the promotion of an intentional commitment to the sharing of a portion of our time, talent and treasure with Saint Edna.

There has been significant progress in all three priorities and I am grateful to all who have committed themselves to the development of these priorities. Much work remains.  While the work of ministry is always a work in progress, the leadership of Saint Edna will soon be gathering again to create a viable plan for the next three to five years. I look forward to serving as your pastor as we continue the work entrusted to us.
